Industry-leading partnership in sustainability education announced

Sydney, Australia (3 July 2017) – Pointsbuild, a leading provider of online education for Australia’s building and construction industry, will become the Supply Chain Sustainability School’s first Knowledge Partner, promoting the School’s free sustainability learning resources whilst offering complementary and advanced courses accessible through Pointsbuild’s online training platform.

Pointsbuild offers over 130 courses to the construction industry, including sustainability courses such as energy efficiency and water management, to ensure builders know the regulations and have the proper credentials. The Supply Chain Sustainability School offers over 275 learning resources on key sustainability themes through videos, e-learning modules, documents, templates and case studies.

Innovation and regulation within the construction industry is evolving at a rapid pace, and sustainability is an increasing focus as governments and the private sector require best practice benchmarks and certification. Addressing sustainability throughout the supply chain, and including education in smart planning and sustainable design, is therefore critical to managing both the industry’s success and its environmental, economic and social impacts.

“Staying up-to-date with industry requirements and legislative changes can be an onerous task for small and medium-sized construction firms,” states Robin Mellon, CEO of Australia’s Supply Chain Sustainability School. “Our mission has always been to provide free sustainability knowledge across the supply chain; that’s why having Pointsbuild as our first Knowledge Partner allows for an easily accessible, continuous learning pathway guided by current regulation and relevant information.”

“Pointsbuild and the Supply Chain Sustainability School share many synergies in our goals to provide online training resources and tools, and educate the building and construction industry in a cost-effective method,” says Michael Tomlinson, founder and managing director of Pointsbuild. “Online training gives the industry a convenient, time-efficient way to learn and fulfil license renewal requirements, without losing time on-the-job.”

“We’re excited to be providing our best practice courses to the School’s members, but also tapping into the depth and breadth of their thinking and resources, shaping the future of learning in Australia, and offering this knowledge to the wider building community,” adds Tomlinson.

“Pointsbuild and the School already offer courses and learning resources on similar issues that complement one another, without competing, so working closely on a seamless virtual learning environment will help the builders, suppliers and sub-contractors develop their sustainability knowledge and competencies to tackle such topics together,” concludes Mellon.
